Wim Van Hasselt

Wim Van Hasselt ist ein belgischer Musiker, der derzeit in der Schweiz lebt. Als Solist trat er unter anderem mit der Amsterdam Sinfonietta, der Sophia Philharmonic und dem Budapest Festival Orchester auf und konzertierte im Concertgebouw Amsterdam, der Beethovenhalle Bonn, dem Konzerthaus Berlin und der Tokyo Opera City Concert Hall.
Jarenlang war Wim Van Hasselt Mitglied der Trompetengruppe des Königlichen Concertgebouw Orchester Amsterdam. Zuvor war er in gleicher Position beim Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin tätig und absolvierte Orchesterpraktika bei der Deutschen Oper Berlin und der Staatsoper Stuttgart. Als Gast trat er mit den Berliner Philharmonikern, dem Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks und dem Luzern Festival Orchester auf.
Wim ist ein preisgekrönter Künstler, der von dem englischen Musikmagazine „Gramophone“ als „an exceptionally fine player with all the equipment in his armoury to delight, surprise and challenge the listener at every turn“ beschrieben wird. Zuletzt wurde er mit dem «Edison Classic Award 2021» für das Debütalbum seines Duos ART’uur für Channel Classic Records ausgezeichnet. Seine Aufnahmen zeichnen sich durch Vielseitigkeit und Neugierde aus und verbinden Tradition und Moderne. Dazu gehören Auftragskompositionen von u.a. Wim Henderickx, Florian Magnus Maier, Daniel Wohl, Anthony Plog, Koen Plaetinck, Jacob TV, Nicole Lizée und Markus Stockhausen.
Als Professor an der Hochschule für Musik Freiburg und der Norwegian Academy of Music Oslo sowie als Coach beim European Youth Orchestra gibt Wim Van Hasselt seine Leidenschaft für Musik mit Begeisterung an die nächste Generation weiter.

Wim Van Hasselt is a Belgian musician based in Switzerland.
He has been invited to perform as a soloist with the Amsterdam Sinfonietta, the Sophia Philharmonic, and the Budapest Festival Orchestra, among others, appearing at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, the Beethovenhalle Bonn, the Konzerthaus Berlin, and the Tokyo Opera City Hall.
For many years, he was a member of the trumpet section of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam. He previously held the same position with the Radio Symphony Orchestra Berlin and had orchestral internships at the Deutsche Oper Berlin and the State Opera Stuttgart. As a guest, he performed with the Berlin Philharmonic, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, and the Lucerne Festival Orchestra.
Wim is an award-winning artist and is described as “an exceptionally fine player with all the equipment in his armoury to delight, surprise and challenge the listener at every turn.” (Gramophone) He was recently awarded the prestigious “Edison Classic Award 2021” for “Imaginary Mirror” (Channel Classic Records), the debut album of his duo ART'uur.
His recordings are characterized by versatility, and inquisitiveness and are notable for connecting tradition and modernity, including commissions of new compositions by Wim Henderickx, Florian Magnus Maier, Daniel Wohl, Anthony Plog, Jacob TV, Nicole Lizée, and Markus Stockhausen, among others.
As a professor of trumpet at the University of Music Freiburg, the Norwegian Academy of Music Oslo, and a coach at the European Union Youth Orchestra, he enthusiastically transmits his passion for music to the next generation.
