Registration for the Entrance Audition

The application for the entrance examination must be sent to the Trossingen University of Music in due form and on time.

All prospective students can apply from March 1st to April 1st for the following Winter Semester or from October 1st to November 1st for the following Summer Semester, as the applicant portal is only open during these time frames. Please note that applications for the Music Design studies are only possible for the Winter Semester.

Apply in Three Steps

1. Online Application

Applicants who are already enrolled at the University should use the student portal His-In-One for the application. If your desired course of study requires a prescreening video, please keep the instructions in mind (see below).

2. Pay the Application Fee


An application fee of €50 will be charged for participation in the admission process. Please transfer the amount by the deadlines mentioned above, including the indication of purpose in the memo line (IMPORTANT) and enclose the payment slip with your application:

(Again, if foreign symbols are not allowed, write "für" as "fuer" and "Prüfungsverwaltung - Aufnahmeprüfung" as "Pruefungsverwaltung - Aufnahmepruefung." Additionally, "ß" is equivalent to "ss," so you can write "Schulheiß" as "Schulheiss")

Programmes with Digital Prescreening

There is a digital prescreening phase for the following degree programmes: 

  • BA Music, BA Early Music, BA Church Music B
  • MA Music, MA Chamber Music, MA Art Song, MA Opera, MA Vocal Ensemble, MA Orchestra, MA Classroom Musicianship, MA Performance, MA Contemporary Music, MA Early Music Instrument/Vocal, MA Early Music General Bass, MA Early Music Chamber Music, MA Early Music Ensemble Conducting, MA Early Music Primarius/Concertmaster/Vocal Director, MA Church Music A, MA Extended Music Education, MA Music Education
  • Konzertexamen

Tips and Instructions for the Prescreening Video:

  • Video is up to date (not older than 12 months)
  • 10-15 minutes in length
  • Corresponds to the instructions for the program with respect to selected major.
  • Contains only the repertoire required for the entrance audition.
  • Hands and face of the applicant must be visible at all times.
  • All recordings are unedited.
  • No cuts are allowed within individual pieces. Cuts between pieces (also to shorten the length) are allowed.
  • Available via an accessible link to a video portal (e.g., Youtube, Vimeo) or permanently as an MP4, MOV, AVI in the cloud.

Study programmes without a digital prescreening phase

There is no digital prescreening for these programmes:

  • BA School Teaching Degree (Gymnasiallehramt), BA School Teaching Degree (Gymnasiallehramt) with emphasis in Jazz and Popular Music, BA Music and Movement,
  • MA Choral Conducting, MA Orchestral Conducting (only open on WS 23/24), MA Wind Ensemble Conducting, MA Music and Movement EMP, MA Music and Movement Performance, MA Composition, MA Music for People in the 3rd + 4th Stages of Life,
  • MA School Teaching Degree (Gymnasiallehramt), MA School Teaching Degree (Gymnasiallehramt) with emphasis in Jazz and Popular Music, MA of Arts,
  • Youth Class (Jugendklasse)
