Vita

Philipp Ahner is Professor of Music Pedagogy and Music Didactics as well as Vice Rector for Studies, Teaching and Research at the State University of Music Trossingen. His research focuses on music didactic research in the context of digital media at the university's state centre MUSIC DESIGN-PERFORMANCE. Mr. Ahner is a member of the Federal Executive Board of the BMU, a member of expert committees of the German Cultural Council and the German Music Council and coordinator of the SFG Digital Technologies in Music Education of the EAS. In 2011, he will receive his doctorate at the Mannheim University of Music under Prof. Dr. Werner Jank with the topic "Music as an optional subject". Prior to this, he studied with horn as his main subject (class of Prof. Peter Arnold) at the Mannheim University of Music (Diplom Musiklehrer) and at the University of Mannheim in business administration, history and education (Diplom Handelslehrer). In his professional career, Mr. Ahner was a horn player in various cultural orchestras (project contracts), employee of the Nationaltheater Mannheim (unlimited), teacher for horn and low brass instruments at music schools and music clubs, teacher (OStR) for music, history and business studies as well as head of department at a school centre in Wangen, Training teacher for music in secondary schools at the Seminar for Teacher Training in Weingarten, head of the music pedagogical further education institution Meersburger Sommerakademie of the state of Baden-Württemberg, member of the educational plan commissions for music of the state of Baden-Württemberg, course leader of various courses at various state academies as well as professor for music didactics at the Detmold College of Music.
