A passionate saxophonist

Matthias Anton studied saxophone with Prof. Jürgen Seefelder at the Musikhochschule in Mannheim. This was followed by artistic training with Prof. Bernd Konrad at the University of Music & Performing Arts in Stuttgart.

He played as the first alto in the Baden-Württemberg State Jazz Orchestra and in the Federal Jazz Orchestra. In addition to receiving the 1st Federal Jazz Prize for young musicians with Keechero and the “Outstanding Music Award”, he was also a scholarship holder of Berklee College’s of Music, Boston, USA.

Through musical collaboration, festivals, tours and concerts, he worked with Peter Herbolzheimer, Bernd Konrad, Harriett Lewis, Maria Schneider, Alvin Mills and Philipp Moehrke, among others.

Since 2005 he has been teaching saxophone at the Trossingen University of Music.

In 2009 he received the Blue Genius Audience Award at the International Media Festival Villingen-Schwenningen and came second in the Baden-Württemberg State Jazz Prize.
