Hans-Peter Braun was born in Tübingen in 1950 and studied church music at the Hochschule für Kirchenmusik in Esslingen and at the Musikhochschule Trossingen. From 1981 he was district cantor in Aalen, and from 1981 in Trossingen.
Since 1980, he has been teaching composition and music theory at the University of Music in Trossingen. Since 1983 he has been an instructor for training in the Association of Protestant Church Music in Württemberg. In 1990 he was appointed director of church music. Since 1995, he has been the director of music at the Tübingen monastery. He composed choral and organ works and literature for all areas of church music practice.
