Aleksandar Golovin

Aleksandar Golovin (born 1990, Varna, Bulgaria) completed his Bachelor of Music in 2012 and Master of Music with a focus on performance studies (or clarinet) in 2013 at Canterbury Christ Church University (UK). Between 2015 and 2022, he completed his doctorate in musicology at the University of Siegen under Prof. Dr. Florian Heesch and successfully defended his dissertation in March 2022 entitled “Symphonic Strings, Operatic Vocals and Classical Virtuosity. Examining the Classical in Progressive Metal - Music, Discourse and Diversity”. He has published articles on global and Eastern European rock music phenomena in journals such as MGG Online. His research focuses on the music and culture of (heavy) metal, progressive music, gender aspects in popular music, popular music in Eastern Europe, and game studies.
