I decided on a program at San Francisco State University because of their creative history and modern developments that are blooming there. ihrer kreativen Vergangenheit und moderner Entwicklungen, die dort Blüte tragen. San Francisco State University is a so-called “commuter” campus. This means that most of the approximately 30,000 students travel from other parts of the city. Relatively few students lives on campus.
In the first semester, I enrolled in courses at the department of music, dance, and theater as well as the department of visual arts, while in the second smester I additionally enrolled in the departments of holistic healing and kinesiology. All of my instructors were fantastic and approached their subject with body and soul. They often brought international experiences with them and were very cosmopolitan, supportive, and demanding.
The J. Leonard Paul Library is state-of-the-art and leaves nothing to be desired. There is even a 3D-printer and you can check out laptops and rent conference rooms. The campus is very organically arranged - there is a look point to the sea, cafes, restaurants, a bar with a stage, and even an arcade center. Sports fields, a fitness studio with swimming pools and in the future also a wellness center, a stationary shop, numerous student organizations, and events (you are automatically included in the IEEC)…
Looking back, the climate at SFSU proves to be very creative. I had the feeling that I could pursue further studies in all possible directions and had very helpful people around me.
Ich entschied mich für ein Studium an der San Francisco State University aufgrund ihrer kreativen Vergangenheit und moderner Entwicklungen, die dort Blüte tragen. Es handelt sich bei der San Francisco State University um einen so genannten „Commuter“-Campus. Das bedeutet, dass die meisten der ca. 30.000 Studenten aus anderen Stadtteilen anreisen. Verhältnismäßig wenige Studenten leben auf dem Campus.
Im ersten Semester belegte ich Kurse in der Abteilung für Musik, Tanz und Theater und ebenfalls in der Abteilung für Bildende Kunst, im zweiten Semester zusätzlich in den Abteilungen für ganzheitliche Heilung und Kinesiologie. Alle meine Dozenten waren hervorragend und mit Leib und Seele bei der Sache. Häufig brachten sie internationale Erfahrungen mit und waren sehr weltoffen, fördernd und fordernd.
Die J. Leonard Paul Library ist hochmodern und lässt keinerlei Wünsche offen. Es gibt sogar 3D-printer, man kann Laptops ausleihen und eigene Konferenzräume mieten. Der Campus ist sehr organisch angelegt, es gibt einen Aussichtspunkt zum Meer und Cafés und Restaurants, eine Bar mit Bühne, sogar ein Arcade Center. Sportplätze, ein Fitnessstudio mit Schwimmbecken, in Zukunft auch ein Wellness Zentrum, einen Schreibwarenhandel, unzählige studentische Organisationen und Veranstaltungen (im IEEC ist man automatisch drin)…
Rückblickend erweist sich das Klima an der SFSU als sehr kreativ. Ich hatte das Gefühl, dass man sich dort in alle möglichen Richtungen weiterbilden kann und sehr hilfsbereite Menschen um sich hat.
