Vita

He won several prizes at Hungarian "Youth Music" competitions and in 1996 he was first prize winner at the International Competition "Concertino Prague". In 2000 he also received the "Förderpreis" of the Cultural Circle of German Business and the "Carl-Seemann-Preis" of the "Förderverein der Musikhochschule Freiburg". 

He has given several concerts as a guest with the ensemble "Consortium Classicum" and regularly appears as a sought-after music partner with various ensembles throughout Europe. Zoltán Kovács has gained valuable experience in leading orchestras, including under the direction of Sir Yehudi Menuhin, and plays regularly with the Munich Chamber Orchestra. 

His artistic qualities are documented by various radio and television productions: at Deutschland Radio Berlin and SWR (including the 2003 film "Musikdebüt"). From 2001 to 2005 he received a scholarship from the German Cultural Foundation "Villa Musica". In 2002 he recorded works by Bohuslav Martinu and Olivier Messiaen on CD for the "ARTS" label ("Clarinet XXth Century"). 2004 he recorded a CD with the Faunus Wind Quintet. He has premiered numerous works by contemporary composers. 

Since the winter semester 2005/06 he has been a lecturer at the Musikhochschule Trossingen. The passion for teaching accompanied the Hungarian clarinettist Zoltán Kovács on his way to his doctorate in 2010 and his habilitation in 2013 at the Academy of Music in Lodz/Poland.
