Brass band conducting
Vita
Pietro Sarno was born in Marsberg (NRW) in 1986.
Already during his school music studies at the Detmold University of Music, conducting became an ever-increasing focus of his work. At the same time, he completed a degree in wind orchestra conducting with Thomas Doss at the Bolzano Conservatory and then rounded off his training with a master's degree in orchestral conducting with GMD Prof. Rasmus Baumann at the Stuttgart University of Music.
During this time, he conducted orchestras such as the Stuttgart Philharmonic, the Südwestdeutsche Philharmonie Konstanz and the Württembergische Philharmonie Reutlingen.
In October 2015, he won 2nd prize at the international conducting competition con brio in Innsbruck.
Thanks to his versatile training, Pietro Sarno conducts both symphony and symphonic wind orchestras in concert and opera repertoire. He is currently music director of the Friedrichshafen City Orchestra, chief conductor of the Audi Wind Philharmonic and conducts various project orchestras. In these orchestras, he has worked with renowned soloists such as cellist Maximilian Hornung, clarinettist Andreas Ottensamer and tenor Klaus Florian Vogt. He made his opera debut in April 2019 with Donizetti's L'Elisir d'amore at the Musiktheater Friedrichshafen. He is also co-founder and musical director of ensemble minifaktur, a professional chamber orchestra from the Lake Constance region.
Pietro Sarno has been teaching wind orchestra and orchestral conducting at the Trossingen University of Music since October 2022.
