Vita

The Boston-born pianist Peter Nelson began his education in his hometown and later continued it at Oberlin College in Ohio and at the Hochschule für Musik in Frankfurt. He then embarked on a career as a soloist, performing in piano recitals and - together with various European orchestras - in concerts.

Following his inclination, however, chamber music and especially song accompaniment became more and more the focus of his musical work. Encouraged by Arleen Augér, he worked on his art of accompaniment and took lessons with Leonard Hokanson and Geoffrey Parsons. Very soon he was engaged as an assistant in master classes by Christa Ludwig, Elisabeth Schwarzkopf, Sena Jurinac, Gundula Janowitz and Hilde Zadek, among others.

Peter Nelson has already been invited to numerous international singing competitions, performed worldwide as an accompanist at concerts and festivals and worked with Kurt Moll, Maria Venuti, Gabriele Schnaut and Eteri Gvazava. Peter Nelson was a lecturer for Lied interpretation at the Karlsruhe Academy of Music, and since the winter semester 2003/04 he has been professor for Lied interpretation at the Trossingen Academy. From 2006-2012 he was Prorector and Coordinator of the international ERASMUS exchange programme. He is still responsible for "International Networking".
