Vita

Patrick Henrichs is one of the most sought-after specialists for baroque trumpet. After studying modern trumpet and baroque trumpet with Professor Horst Dieter Bolz and Michael Laird in Trossingen and early music at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, he has performed as a solo trumpeter with the most internationally renowned ensembles since 1997.

Numerous recordings, released by Harmonia Mundi, Deutsche Grammophon, Oehms Classics, Carus and others, as well as the Bach cantata recordings with the J. S. Bach Foundation St. Gallen under the direction of Rudolf Lutz on CD, DVD and their streaming platform www.bachipedia.org document his artistic career.

Today, Patrick Henrichs teaches historical trumpet at the Lucerne University of Music and as an honorary professor at the Trossingen University of Music. From 2015 to 2024, he was also head of methodology/didactics for brass players there.

As a committed pedagogue, he published ‘die Barocktrompetenschule’ (fluegelpferd, 2013), a systematic textbook for wind technique on the natural trumpet and the interpretation of baroque music, which is now standard literature in baroque trumpet training.
