The Korean Junghae Lee was born in Tokyo. After studying composition at Seoul National University, she came to Europe. She continued her studies first in Vienna and then in Basel at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis with Andreas Staier (harpsichord) and Jesper B. Christensen (basso continuo). At the same time, she studied composition with a focus on electronic music in the electronic studio of the Musikhochschule Basel.
In addition to her concert activities, Junghae Lee is also a lecturer at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik in Trossingen.
