Chen Halevi is considered one of today's most versatile clarinetists; he plays recitals, concerts, and chamber music with equal acclaim. His playing covers an impressive repertoire, from the performance of historical instruments to the most current contemporary music. He is a pioneer of a new school of playing; he looks at what the clarinet and clarinetist should be in the 21st century. As a teenager, he had his debut with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra under Zubin Mehta. Since then, he has worked with many leading orchestras in the US, Europe, and Japan. Chen Halevi, a great lover of chamber music, appears to this day with many of the most prominent musicians and quartets. His passion for chamber music makes him a welcome guest at festivals all over the world. His teaching is also an important component of his work and he is interested in imparting his school of playing in lessons and masterclasses.

Halevi's close relationships with composers, who are internationally recognized as passionate contemporary musicians have led him to perform a large number of works dedicated to him by the most important composers of our time. His engagement with contemporary music goes beyond. In 2007, Halevi established ClaRecords with the goal of supporting contemporary composers with commissions, recordings, and performances. Another goal of ClaRecords is to encourage dialogue between difference art forms in the 21st century. Halevi's great interest in other cultures has led him to explore a multitude of musical styles; on this journey he has formed many musical cooperations, including TangoFactory - an ensemble that expands the horizon of the tango through performances of new, contemporary tangos and revisits the old masters. Other projects explore the musical roots of the Middle East over the course of centuries and its colorful sound. In the meantime, Halevi has released his second CD on Cobra Records, after the highly praised Winds Unlimited album "Harmonic Music from Mozart's Favorite Operas." This showed another side of him - this time on historical instruments, which investigates the woodwind repertoire from the Classical and Romantic periods
