Information at a glance

Are you digitally savvy and enjoy experimenting with new technologies? Are you curious about how (classical) music and digital soundscapes can be combined? Then this profile could be just right for you: The Music Design Light profile gives you a thorough insight into music design, enabling you to work on projects involving interactive and immersive media in interdisciplinary teams using the appropriate tools and techniques.

In the first module, you will learn basic sound design techniques. You will use synthesizers, digital sound sources, Foley and field recordings in linear and interactive media productions, produce your own content and discuss it with the group. Depending on your previous knowledge, you will either learn the basics of audio technology or the basics of IT, coding and algorithms.

In the second module, you will practise the interaction of music, sound and language in a digital context. The focus is on artistic, creative and functional application in multimedia contexts. The profile concludes with participation in a guided cooperation project with Furtwangen University, in which you will put your knowledge into practice in collaboration with music design, media informatics or game design students.

All courses in this profile are held in groups with students from different years of music design, promoting community building within the university.

What will you learn in the Music design light profile?

  • Conception, implementation and reflection on multidisciplinary sound projects in the dimensions of music, sound and language.
  • Techniques and tools for digital design possibilities.
  • The effect of music and sound in connection with digital media and/or other art forms.
