Mastery begins here

In a collegial and motivating environment, you will learn all the playful and technical basics you need to develop into a professional artist in the areas of orchestra, solo and chamber music during your studies. You can expect an appreciative and inspiring atmosphere in the percussion class.

Regardless of whether you are pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree, you always have the option of choosing an artistic or artistic-pedagogical focus. The profiles also give you the opportunity to broaden your horizons or strengthen a particular direction.

Choose between:

Bachelor Podium and Orchestra
Bachelor Music Pedagogy
Bachelor Secondary School Education
Master Podium and Orchestra
Master Music Pedagogy
Master Secondary School Education
Master Stage and Orchestra Practice (Part-time Master, 120 ECTS, 6 semesters)
Master Chamber Music (Part-time Master, 120 ECTS, 6 semesters)
Master Creative Arts Practice (Part-time Master, 60 ECTS, 4 semesters)
Master Music and Society (Part-time Master, 60 ECTS, 4 semesters)

But of course, young students are also welcome,
and those who are still looking for that ‘final polish’ can apply for the Konzertexamen.

... that is why all degree programmes focus on providing an excellent education:

  • Individual percussion lessons covering the entire spectrum
  • Orchestral practice is the focus of the work. The aim is to work professionally in the field of symphony and opera orchestras
  • Orchestral studies and audition training
  • Solo literature on mallets and multi-percussion
  • Weekly class lessons
  • Regular ensemble work
  • Participation in the Positively Brass and Percussion Institute (workshops, symposia, concerts)
  • Performance practice in recitals and concerts within and outside the university
  • Mental coaching
  • Excursions

In the field of percussion, you will learn all the relevant skills to prepare you for the professional job market. This means that, in addition to the focus on orchestra, solo and chamber music also play an important role. This allows you to develop into an artist with the broadest possible range of skills and interests. Regular audition training, recital training and concerts, combined with mental coaching, ensure that students are optimally prepared for the stage. In the Bachelor's programme, it is also desirable to enrol in the artistic-pedagogical profile IGP at the same time, which opens up even broader opportunities in your future career.

The percussion programme is recommended for applicants who are technically skilled and have a broad knowledge of percussion instruments. A diverse interest in different styles is a prerequisite. Experience in orchestral and chamber music is also desirable.
