Art song as a reflection

All periods of music history have their own special form of expression in art song: the compositional combination of language, singing and (piano) music has continuously evolved, while at the same time integrating a wide range of innovative aspects.

The central artistic work on the art song repertoire is supplemented by projects and seminars that accompany your studies. This allows you to expand your artistic excellence and reflect on the art of song from a theoretical, academic and practical perspective.

In song interpretation, you will be encouraged to develop your skills as a pianist, accordionist or guitarist and will work on interpreting the art song repertoire at a high artistic level. In addition to classical literature, contemporary music and chamber music also play an important role. This breadth allows you to develop original programme dramaturgy in order to reach new audiences, networks and contexts.

Song interpretation is based on a solid instrumental foundation. Therefore, you can only study it at Master's level. It is offered as a core artistic subject in the part-time Master's programme in Chamber Music. This Master's programme is designed to be completed in six semesters with 120 ECTS credits, allowing you to start or expand your professional career at the same time.
