Mastery begins here

The accordion has become an integral part of the contemporary solo, chamber music and orchestral repertoire. At the same time, its adaptation of early music works has provided serious interpretative approaches and impulses in the handling of arrangements and transcriptions. So if you want to conscientiously engage with interpretative approaches, stylistics and performance practice, you've come to the right place!

Since the second half of the 20th century, the ideal sound of the accordion has inspired a large number of composers to create new repertoire, resulting in a seemingly inexhaustible wealth of solo and chamber music repertoire. The accordion is also a welcome guest in orchestras. The study of a selection of these compositions, originally written for the accordion, is just as central to the programme as the reflective and historically informed study of transcriptions from other eras.

In Trossingen, you will develop artistic and reflective approaches to interpretation using a methodical system that does justice to the diversity of the repertoire across eras, genres and styles.

In order to study music in Trossingen, you must have successfully passed the entrance examination. Here you can demonstrate your instrumental and artistic skills for the respective degree programme by performing at least one original composition and one arrangement of your choice.

You can find the exact regulations for the individual degree programmes in the enrolment regulations.
